Annotate PDF sheet music while you practice

SheetCue 1.3.0 adds annotation tools you can open from Full page or from a paused Measure view, with marks visible in both practice layouts.

The short answer

Open a score in Full page, or pause Measure view before opening annotations. Choose Pencil, Pen, or Highlighter, set its color and stroke width, and draw on the score. The same marks appear in both Full page and Measure view. Use Undo or Redo for recent actions, or the eraser to remove a whole stroke.

How it works

Open annotations from a supported view

Open the score in Full page, or pause the timed advance in Measure view first. Then open the annotation controls; Measure view must remain paused while you mark the score.

Choose a drawing tool and style

Select Pencil, Pen, or Highlighter. Choose the color and stroke width that distinguish a fingering note, rehearsal cue, or highlighted passage.

Check the mark in both practice layouts

Draw on the displayed music, then switch between Full page and Measure view as needed. SheetCue shows the same annotation in both views.

Correct a mark

Use Undo and Redo for recent drawing actions. To remove a mark directly, choose the eraser and select the stroke; erasing removes that whole stroke rather than part of its line.

What to know

Choose a tool for each kind of cue

Use Pencil or Pen for written practice cues and Highlighter for passages you want to emphasize, then adjust color and stroke width for visibility.

One annotation can support two practice views

Marks are shown in Full page and in the cropped Measure view, so a cue added in one layout can still guide practice in the other.

Current limits

  • Pause Measure view before opening the annotation tools there.
  • The eraser removes a whole stroke rather than part of one.
